Well water treatment

Iron and sulfur treatment for well water

If your water smells like rotten eggs, stains your sinks and laundry orange, or leaves a metallic taste in every glass, your well is telling you something, and across the well country of Parrish, Myakka City and Port Charlotte those signs usually point to iron and sulfur. Lakewood Home Services treats both, and it never starts with a guess: every iron and sulfur job begins with a free in-home water test that measures hardness, pH, TDS and iron at your home, because the right treatment depends on how much your water actually carries.

Iron and sulfur FAQs

Iron and sulfur FAQs

Answers about iron and sulfur well water treatment.

Why does my well water smell like rotten eggs?

That smell is sulfur, hydrogen sulfide gas that occurs naturally in Florida well water. It is one of the most common well complaints in this area. Treatment depends on how much sulfur your water carries, which is why we test first: filtration, including catalytic carbon, is part of how sulfur odor is handled.

What causes the orange and rust-colored stains?

Iron. Well water in this part of Florida often carries iron, and when it meets air it leaves orange and rust-colored stains on fixtures, tubs and laundry, and can discolor the water itself. A softener alone is not always the answer for iron; your test shows the iron level and we size the filtration to match it.

Can one system handle both iron and sulfur?

Often, yes, when the levels allow it, and sometimes the water needs filtration ahead of a softener as well. There is no honest answer before a test, which is why the free in-home water test comes first and the recommendation follows your numbers.

Will treatment change my water pressure?

A properly sized system is built for your home and your well, and we confirm flow and timing when we quote. Undersized equipment is what causes pressure complaints, which is another reason we size from a test instead of selling a standard box.

How much does iron and sulfur treatment cost?

Pricing is based on the type of service, materials required, and the scope of the job, and we provide transparent, upfront pricing before any work begins. Book a free in-home water test and Lakewood will give you an exact quote for your water.
